5 decoration trends for 2023

In the heading Architectural Trends we present the biggest trends in architecture globally.

2022 is almost over and the excitement of the arrival of new decorating trends for 2023 is beginning to build. (https://www.idealista.pt/news/decoracao/espacos/2022/08/25/53727-tendencias-de-decoracao-2023-ambientes-acolhedores-e-menos-estereis) A lot has changed in the last three years, mainly due to the pandemic, which has changed our perception of life, our daily lives, and what we need to feel comfortable.

The decoration of environments is no longer just about choosing furniture; we are increasingly concerned about making our home a comfortable space for rest and meditation, and where we can regain energy to deal with the day to day.

It is in this sense that, more than ever, when we talk about architecture it becomes difficult to disassociate it from interior and home decoration. Therefore, in this article we bring those that we consider to be the biggest decoration trends for 2023.

Green and Magenta: the color of hope and the color of Pantone

The decoration trends show, more and more, a touch of personality through objects and colors. If since the beginning of the century people have been looking for a more minimalist decoration, nowadays it is in comfort and cozier, less sterile and cold environments that they see themselves.

The color green imposes itself, therefore, as one of the great decoration trends for 2023. (https://www.elledecor.com/design-decorate/trends/a42270281/color-trends-2023/

The era of white walls and delicate tones is over, with jewel-like hues such as emerald green gaining more prominence in decorating. One way to interpret this trend is to use a play on two contrasting colors to create a striking visual effect.

The vivid magenta color, voted color of the year 2023 by Pantone, could be another major decorating trend. (https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year/2023)

This color represents "a lively new red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and unrestricted self-expression, an electrifying, no-holds-barred hue that manifests itself as a statement of prominence."

Eccentric and round sofas

Furniture such as sofas and chairs that are more eccentric and round in shape are also one of the biggest decorating trends to register for 2023.

After a long day at work, it's on the sofas that we end up spending most of our time relaxing. Therefore, in addition to comfort, we must take into account the aesthetics and personality transmitted by its decoration, to become as inviting as possible.

The rounded shapes of sofas help us feel more at ease, both at home and in others' homes. Round sofas, with soft curves, thus evoke the ergonomic lines of the 1960s furniture, whose main concern was, precisely, comfort.

This eccentricity in furniture choice may also lead to bolder decisions when it comes to decorating the walls and other parts of your room.

Darker Woods

In 2023, the lighter woods that so well create a Nordic atmosphere will gradually fall by the wayside in decoration. Darker species such as walnut, rosewood, teak, acacia, and ebony will be adopted for decoration, especially in living rooms and kitchens.

To make the most of natural lighting in your home, woody tones cannot be left out of the composition. Dark wood can be combined with neutral colors such as beige.

An excellent decoration option is furniture with accents, such as stripes, stripes, or table legs.

Natural Lighting

Enhancing natural lighting is another major decoration trend for the coming year. The secret to betting on good lighting is to leave your windows as exposed to the sun as you can and, if possible, bet on large windows and glass doors.

Also, try to use light curtains, which will help make the room in your home even brighter. Also give preference to curtains made of natural materials, such as linen and silk.

Biofilia in the bedroom and other rooms

For reasons already mentioned in the article, the search for a greater connection with nature will be very present in decoration in 2023. After the pandemic, people became more conscious about their mental health, and never before has health and clean air been valued so highly.

As such, it will come as no surprise that biophilic patterns continue to grow in popularity. But it will be bedrooms that will have the greatest focus for natural elements to provide a good night's sleep and increased well-being.

For those who live in an apartment, vertical gardens and potted plants are a great decoration option to bring indoors the feeling of lightness and coziness. For those who live in a house with a larger space, the choice can and should fall on winter gardens, for example.
